Clair Norris, known to millions of viewers as Bernie Taylor, is set to leave BBC’s EastEnders later this year in what’s being described as a “dramatic” storyline, marking the end of the Taylor family’s presence on Albert Square.
Norris, 27, has played Bernie since 2017, when the Taylors first arrived in Walford. Her departure follows the exits of several family members over the past five years, including Karen, Mitch, Keegan, Chantelle, and most recently, Keanu.
End of an Era for the Taylors
Bernie’s departure marks the final chapter of the Taylor family in EastEnders, once one of the soap’s most popular working-class clans.
- Karen Taylor left in 2024 alongside Mitch and her grandchildren, Mia and Mackenzie.
- Keanu Taylor was killed off in 2023 in The Six murder plot.
- Chantelle Atkins was murdered in 2020.
- Keegan Taylor moved to Germany in 2022.
- Felix (Matthew Morrison) is also set to exit.
A source told UK News in Pictures:
“She was the last Taylor standing and it’s time to close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things.”
Fan Reaction to Clair Norris Leaving EastEnders
On social media platform X, fans reacted with disappointment:
“Gutted about Bernie – Clair is a fab actor & feels quintessentially #EastEnders but sadly she was written into a bit of a tricky corner once they axed all her family.”
