A 35-year-old father from Walsall has been found guilty of brutally murdering his tiny five-week-old daughter.
Sean Jefferson Convicted After Shocking Abuse
Sean Jefferson was convicted at Stafford Crown Court today (Monday 16 March) following an eight-week trial. He was found guilty of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Darcy’s mother, Amy Leigh Clark, 34, from Lichfield, was also found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child.
Horrific Abuse and Fatal Injuries Revealed
Emergency services rushed to the Burntwood home on Mother’s Day, Sunday 27 March 2022, after baby Darcy collapsed. Both Jefferson and Clark were arrested the next day. Sadly, Darcy died in hospital two days later on 29 March.
Police revealed Darcy died from a catastrophic head injury – but that was only the start. The baby had suffered repeated, horrific abuse.
- 47 fractured ribs
- Broken bones in both legs
- Injuries sustained on at least three separate occasions
- Multiple other cruel wounds
Sentencing Date Pending
The Major Investigations Team charged the couple in May 2023 after a lengthy probe. Jefferson and Clark will be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on a date yet to be announced.
