Delays on the M20 after water main bursts

There are delays of 30 minutes on the M20 eastbound in Kent on approach to the J7 exit. The delays are due to a lane closure on the A249 northbound Detling Hill following a burst water main. The water main ruptured yesterday evening causing disruption to local traffic. South East Water have isolated the water supply and are continuing investigations, but a repair is not expected to be completed for some time. Road users are being advised to leave extra time for their journeys, or seek alternative routes if possible. Drivers heading westbound on the M20 from Ashford should consider remaining on the M20 and leaving the M20 at junction 6 and using the A229 towards Bluebell Hill, and then the M2, or use the A251 to junction 6 of the M2. Road users using the M20 eastbound should also consider exiting the M20 at junction 6 onto the A229 towards Bluebell Hill and the M2.
