Two drug dealers zipping around Melksham on illegal e-bikes have finally been caught – thanks to a sharp-eyed police drone unit. After endless complaints about balaclava-clad riders causing chaos, Wiltshire Police launched a crackdown.
Police Strike Back After Wave of Anti-Social Behaviour
Armed with intelligence and backup from Trowbridge officers, Melksham cops went on the offensive. Their target: two suspects tearing around town on Sur-Ron electric bikes, notorious for dangerous stunts and street terror.
The suspects were arrested on the spot for dangerous driving and possession of class B drugs. But the bust didn’t end there.
Drug Supply Ring Busted in Linked Raid
Police then raided a nearby address tied to the duo. Inside, they uncovered evidence pointing to a drug supply operation. The occupant was arrested for possession with intent to supply, and the riders were slapped with the same charge.
All three suspects have since been released on bail. Meanwhile, the seized Sur-Ron e-bikes are set to be destroyed, sending a clear message to local troublemakers.
Officers Pledge Zero Tolerance on Crime and Antisocial Behaviour
“Thank you to the Melksham community for supplying us with the information required to catch these criminals,” said Sgt Gemma Rutter.
“The public are fed up of seeing these bikes being ridden dangerously and unlawfully and we will ensure we maintain our momentum on bringing them to justice.
“We do not want drugs on our streets or the dangerous activities and ASB that is so intrinsically linked to drugs.”
