Chase Ends in Crash and Foot Pursuit
On Thursday 27th November 2025, Middlesbrough Proactive Team officers chased Wilson Junior Wunganai, 38, after he refused to stop on Palm Street. Driving a Volvo, Wunganai raced through town at speed before crashing into two brick planters while trying to squeeze through a narrow pedestrian path near Borough Road.
He then attempted to flee on foot but was caught nearby after a brief pursuit.
Class A Drugs and Cash Found
During the arrest, officers recovered suspected cocaine worth around £360. A search of Wunganai’s home in Gretton Avenue uncovered more cocaine, heroin, cannabis, and over £10,000 in cash—pointing to serious drug-dealing activity.
Charged and Sentenced
Wunganai faced multiple charges, including possession with intent to supply class A drugs, possession of cannabis, possession of criminal property, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.
Today, Friday 27th March, at Teesside Crown Court, he was jailed for 4.5 years and banned from driving for 57 months.
