Four gang members were locked up after a Met Police crackdown on a violent phone theft ring hitting shops across the capital.
Met Police Smash Organised Crime Ring
Between May and June 2025, the Met’s elite Flying Squad swooped on a ruthless gang responsible for a string of mobile phone shop raids. Detectives pored over CCTV, forensic clues, phone data, and surveillance to nail the crooks.

Thanks to relentless police work, the gang’s crime spree has been halted, with mobile phone robberies plummeting by a staggering 93% since June 2025. Meanwhile, personal robberies across London are down 13.1%, and residential burglaries have dropped 5% since last April.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Hillier from the Flying Squad said:
“These crimes terrify staff and hit local businesses hard. We were determined to stop them fast, and that’s exactly what we have done.”
“Our detectives smashed through CCTV and phone records to catch these thieves. Let this be a warning—rob a phone shop, and we’ll find you and bring you to justice.”
“Londoners deserve to feel safe. We’re using every tool, working with retailers, to keep violent criminals off our streets.”

Major Phone Store Raids Uncovered
In six daring raids, the gang stole tens of thousands of pounds worth of high-end mobiles, including a £30,000 haul in Woolwich alone. Here’s their crime run-down:
- 28 May, 10:00 – Masked men stormed a Three store in Lewisham but fled when staff hit the panic alarm.
- 28 May, 11:00 – A masked attacker forced their way into a Three shop office in Woolwich and made off with £30,000 worth of phones.
- 3 June, 14:00 – Six masked men robbed a Three store in Wood Green, threatening staff and raiding the backroom safe.
- 5 June, 12:50 – Four masked raiders broke into an O2 store’s storeroom in Haringey and stole phones.
- 7 June, 12:30 – Masked gang forced their way into an O2 store in Sutton but fled after a panic alarm went off.
- 7 June, 13:10 – Four masked men attacked staff at an O2 in Colliers Wood, stealing 21 phones amid threats and assaults.
- 9 June, 11:30 – Police, already watching, stopped and arrested three masked men attempting another O2 Sutton robbery in progress.
Met Surveillance Ends Crime Spree
Detectives traced the gang’s movements and launched a covert operation to catch them red-handed during another planned raid. They blocked the gang’s getaway vehicle, chased them on foot, and made arrests at the scene.

Guilty Verdicts and Sentencing Ahead
At Croydon Crown Court on Monday, 30 March, four were convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery:
- Thomas Davidson, 71, Southmead
- Saleem Ramzan, 49, Manchester
- Louis Pandanzyla, 18, Upminster
- Plus one under-18 defendant, name withheld by law
All are remanded and face sentencing on 15 July.
These join six others already convicted, including ringleader Sammie Govera, 32, who will also be sentenced on 15 July. In total, ten gang members have been brought to justice.
Stuart Seymour, Virgin Media O2’s Director of Security, commented:
“Our people’s safety is top priority. We won’t tolerate gangs using violence or intimidation. These convictions prove that robbing phone stores doesn’t pay.”
“We’ve boosted store security and teamed up with police to speed up responses and evidence gathering. We’ll continue fighting to protect our staff and customers.”
Police Use High-Tech Tactics To Tackle Theft
The Met’s biggest ever crackdown on phone thieves has cut thefts by 10,000 this past year. Officers now deploy drones, high-powered e-bikes, and live facial recognition tech to hunt down offenders and smash stolen phone trafficking.
London’s mobile phone shop robbers beware—this gang’s downfall sends a clear message: the Met is watching, ready, and ruthless.
