Arson Attack Shakes Golders Green Community
Early Monday, several ambulances from a Jewish volunteer rescue group were deliberately set ablaze outside a synagogue in Golders Green, North London, sparking a huge fire and waking locals with loud explosions. The police are treating the incident as a clear antisemitic hate crime.
Flames lit the night sky as dozens of firefighters rushed to contain the blaze. Residents near the scene were evacuated as a safety precaution.
Masked Attackers Caught on Camera
Security footage obtained by UKNIP reveals three masked individuals approaching a Hatzola Northwest ambulance and setting it alight around 1:36 a.m., right next to the Machzikei Hadath synagogue.
London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are investigating the attack and searching for three suspects, but no arrests have been made yet.
Community Condemns “Direct Attack” on Jewish Heritage
Charlie Richards, a resident, described hearing “multiple explosions,” which police believe were caused by gas canisters inside the burnt ambulances. Four of Hatzola’s six ambulances were destroyed in this calculated arson, according to Hatzola Northwest’s chairman, Shloimie Richman.
“Obviously we have concerns that this is a direct attack on the Jewish community,”
Golders Green is known for its vibrant Jewish and Orthodox Jewish population, home to numerous synagogues, schools, and kosher eateries. Locals Anita Zadeh and Gedale Weinberg expressed shock and fear over the attack.
“It’s a terrible, terrible act what happened… Why is it happening to us? We’re living in scary times,” Weinberg said. “There should be more police patrols here because this area is the heart of London’s Jewish community,” added Zadeh.
Police Ramp Up Hate Crime Investigations
London police have vowed to treat this arson as a serious antisemitic hate crime and continue their hunt for the trespassers. The community remains on edge after this brazen attack on vital emergency services aiding their own people.
