Victim stabbed repeatedly in daylight attack
James Pedley, 41, unleashed a vicious knife attack on a man in his 40s after they agreed to meet in Morvern Avenue, Sutton-in-Ashfield. The victim suffered serious stab wounds to the torso and neck during the fight near a set of garages on 11 October 2025.
A passer-by alerted police at around 1pm after witnessing the stabbing. The injured man was found bleeding on the ground and rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

Smoking gun clues lead cops to hunter in hiding
Investigators traced Pedley using CCTV and recovered a phone he dropped during the brawl. Pedley had arrived on a scooter but fled on foot, wearing blood-soaked clothes.
Two days later, officers tracked him to a property on Dalestorth Street, where residents Kurt Horton and Tracey Hoff lived. A search revealed Pedley hiding beneath loft insulation, squeezed between floor beams and behind locked hatches—only accessible with help.
Co-conspirators arrested as Pedley jailed
Pedley, of Elder Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was arrested alongside Horton, 34, and Hoff, 37. Clothing Pedley wore during the attack was found in the flat.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, 27 March, Pedley was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in public. The judge sentenced him to 14 years behind bars.
Horton and Hoff have pleaded guilty to assisting an offender and await sentencing.
