A repeat knife crime offender has finally been locked away. Raul Maretic-Ramos, 23, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years behind bars after his third conviction related to knife offences.

Threatened Man in Peterborough’s Cathedral Square

On 3 March last year, Peterborough City Council enforcement officers detained Maretic-Ramos after he threatened a man with a knife in the busy Cathedral Square area. Police were called to the scene and arrested the 23-year-old, who also admitted to carrying cannabis.

Denied Charges But Found Guilty at Crown Court

The man from Manor Gardens, Stanground, Peterborough, denied threatening someone with an offensive weapon in public. Nevertheless, a trial at Cambridge Crown Court in December found him guilty. He appeared at the same court on 9 March and was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
