The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has deployed additional crews and specialist equipment to support efforts tackling a massive wildfire at Langdale Moor.
In a statement on Friday, LFB confirmed that 27 firefighters, five officers, five fire appliances, and a specialist wildfire vehicle have been sent to join colleagues from other fire and rescue services already battling the blaze.
The wildfire, which has spread across 10 square miles of moorland, has been described as one of the largest incidents of its kind in recent years.
Brigade Statement
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the Brigade said:
“We have deployed 27 firefighters, five officers, five fire appliances and one of our wildfire vehicles to join other Fire and Rescue Services in North Yorkshire to tackle the major 10 sq mile fire at Langdale Moor. We are proud to be able to assist our fire and rescue family.”
National Response
Firefighters from across the country have been mobilised under national resilience arrangements, with resources pooled to prevent the fire from spreading further across the moorland.
Local residents have been advised to avoid the area, and public access routes near Langdale Moor remain closed.
