Burglar Nabbed Thanks to Neon T-Shirt
A bungling thief who snatched expensive Gucci and Cartier watches in a Tunbridge Wells home raid was caught after being spotted wearing a bright neon T-shirt. James Wall didn’t stand a chance.
Wild Car Chase Ends with Arrest
The 20-year-old struck at a Southborough house on December 13, 2025, making off with four watches, a diamond ring, and stacks of foreign cash. When a witness challenged him, Wall launched into a verbal tirade before speeding off in a silver Vauxhall Insignia.
Police quickly tracked the car on the M25 doing nearly 100mph on the hard shoulder and attempting a deadly wrong-way manoeuvre near the A2 at Wilmington. The vehicle was stopped, and a 38-year-old man caught with driving offences was later released.
Caught Munching Fish & Chips
A dog handler soon found Wall hiding out in a Bexley chip shop, calmly scoffing fish and chips while charging his phone behind the counter. The mobile was seized and forensic analysis confirmed Wall’s presence at the crime scene.
Evidence Stacks Up as Court Sends Thief Down
- Inside the abandoned car: jewellery boxes, false number plates, and a jewellery-cleaning cloth
- Wall pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court on January 12, 2026
- Sentenced to two years in jail on March 25
Detective Constable Celia King said: “Wall laughed while watching footage from the pursuit and initially denied any guilt despite overwhelming evidence. The judge noted the elaborate planning behind the burglary and handed down an immediate custodial sentence.”
