The crash left a large diesel spill stretching across three lanes, making the road unsafe. Crews have cleared the vehicles, but the M25 will stay shut through the afternoon for resurfacing work.

Massive Delays and Diversions in Place

National Highways warns: “This serious collision means the M25 will be closed all afternoon. If you’re heading this way, expect delays and plan your journey accordingly.”

Essex Police, fire crews, and traffic officers are managing the scene and diversion routes. Drivers are advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol:

  • Leave at junction 27 for the M11
  • Take the A406
  • Then the A12
  • Rejoin the M25 at junction 28

Queuing motorists caught inside the closure were slowly released past the crash site via lane one, but long delays remain throughout the morning rush.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing travel nightmare.
