A violent thug has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following a relentless Met Police probe into the death of a vulnerable man he preyed on. The sickening assault ended the life of 55-year-old Dimitrios Tsavdaris, known as Jimmy, after weeks of torment.
Relentless Attacks Lead to Death
Bamidele Fawehinmi, 33, from Haringey, admitted causing grievous bodily harm and manslaughter at the Old Bailey. The victim endured a horrifying stretch of physical abuse that culminated in his death on 29 January 2024.
Detectives painstakingly gathered evidence, including hundreds of witness statements and hours of CCTV footage, revealing Fawehinmi’s campaign of violence and intimidation designed to control Dimitrios.
Met Detective Condemns ‘Cowardly’ Offender
“I cannot imagine the pain Dimitrios suffered, enslaved and living in fear,” said Detective Superintendent Kelly Allen.
“Fawehinmi’s claim of self-defence is utter nonsense. He’s a violent bully who exploited vulnerable people for his own gain.”
“While his conviction won’t heal the family’s pain, we hope justice brings some relief.”
“Thanks to members of the public who came forward—your bravery helped lock this dangerous man up.”
Drugs, Exploitation and Tragic End
Fawehinmi forced Dimitrios into a grim life of drug running, making him drive long hours while living in squalid conditions—sleeping in a garage surrounded by dogs.
- On 26 January, Fawehinmi left Dimitrios, badly beaten, locked inside a flat in Hackney.
- Three days later, Dimitrios was found dead with multiple skull fractures over five weeks.
- Fawehinmi tried to cover his tracks by booking a flight to Nigeria, but was arrested after police traced his hired car with Dimitrios’ blood inside.
The Met’s hard-hitting investigation sends a clear warning: perpetrators exploiting London’s vulnerable will be tracked down and made to face justice.
