A notorious troublemaker has been locked up for five and a half years after stabbing a stranger with a broken bottle in Penzance.
Brutal Attack on Quiet Night
Freddie Clow, 27, homeless and with a string of past offences, launched his vicious attack in the early hours of 1 July 2025. The victim was heading home along Market Jew Street after a night out at the Seven Stars pub when he was set upon.
The victim recalls being “kicked around like a football” before an ambulance arrived. He woke up later in hospital, battered and bloodied, with a glass shard embedded in his skin.
Witnesses Tell Harrowing Story
- One witness saw Clow standing over the victim, rifling through his pockets before walking off.
- A second heard the crash of a bottle breaking and saw Clow kicking and punching the man on the ground.
- A third found the injured victim face down, bleeding heavily, and helped with first aid while waiting for police.
Clow was also caught on camera. Following the stabbing, he caused more chaos by hurling paving slabs and bricks at a nearby property.
Police Condemn Violence
At Truro Crown Court, Clow was found guilty of section 18 grievous bodily harm and sentenced on 27 February.
“This was a brutal and unprovoked attack against an innocent man out for a quiet evening,” said DC Rhys Salisbury. “Clow armed himself with a broken bottle and left the victim for dead. It’s only luck this wasn’t a murder investigation.”
“We hope this sentence sends a strong message: violent crime will not be tolerated.”
Clow’s latest rampage adds to his criminal record and ends with him behind bars for years to come.
