National Highways has slammed the brakes on southbound traffic after a vehicle caught fire, sparking a major incident close to the airport. The motorway remains shut as fire crews battle the blaze, leaving motorists stuck in long queues.
Firefighters Race to Control Flames
Teams from Castle Donington, Coalville, and Loughborough rushed to the scene to tackle the roaring fire. Thankfully, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue confirmed there are no injuries but warned the disruption could last.
“Emergency services are in attendance. Allow extra time if travelling in the area or heading for the airport,” urged National Highways.
