A Manchester man has been locked up for 23 years after fatally stabbing a man in Newton Heath last year.
Knife Attack on Gilmerton Drive
Martin Alan Davies, from Gilmerton Drive, attacked 28-year-old Kailem Gibson on Friday 29 August 2025. Davies stabbed Kailem multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Emergency services rushed to Gilmerton Drive at around 7.25pm after reports of a stabbing. Kailem was taken to the hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest
Police detained Davies shortly after at nearby Oakley Close, spotting him acting suspiciously close to the scene. He was initially arrested on suspicion of serious assault.
Tragically, Kailem died in hospital the next day, 30 August 2025. Davies was then arrested for murder as a full investigation got underway.
Trial Verdict and Sentence
After a two-week trial at Manchester Crown Court starting in February 2026, Davies was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter.
On Monday, 16 March 2026, he was sentenced to 19 years, with an extended sentence of 23 years behind bars.
