Mercedes Driver Arrested After Dramatic Chase in Lozells

A man has been arrested after attempting to evade police in Lozells, Birmingham. The incident involved a Mercedes driver who tried to flee from officers in reverse before being boxed in and attempting to ram his way out.

Dramatic Attempt to Escape

West Midlands Police’s Road Crime Team spotted the suspicious Mercedes while patrolling the Lozells area. Upon noticing the police presence, the driver tried to escape by reversing at speed. However, officers successfully boxed in the vehicle, thwarting his escape.

Undeterred, the suspect attempted to ram his way out of the blockade, but his efforts once again failed. He then abandoned the vehicle and made a run for it on foot. Officers pursued and swiftly detained him.

Drugs and Cash Seized

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of drugs and cash. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences and attempting to evade police.

The West Midlands Police Road Crime Team shared details of the incident on social media, stating:
“#RoadCrimeTeam saw this Mercedes in the #Lozells area. Mercedes driver tried to flee in reverse. #Failed. Mercedes boxed in & tried ramming his way out #Failed, before trying his luck on foot. #OneDetained. A large amount of drugs and cash found. #Arrested”
