Pensioner attacked Robbed and Knocked to the ground in Basingstoke

Police are appealing for information about a robbery in Winchester Road, Basingstoke, on Monday, November 7. A 67-year-old man was crossing the road near the King of Wessex pub at around 5.30pm when he was approached by an unknown man who asked him for money. The victim took out his wallet, which the man then grabbed. He pushed the victim to the ground before running off. The man is described as white, tall and of slim build. He wore a brown leather jacket. PC Daniel Platt, of Basingstoke CID, said: “We would like anyone with information about what happened to contact us “This took place during the evening rush hour, and there were a number of people around, some of whom we know went to help the man.” Anyone with information or may have found a man’s wallet is asked to contact Hampshire Police on 101
