Police Are Investigating An Incident Which Occurred On A Cycle Path In Chippenham

At approximately 9am, a woman in her 40s was walking her dog along the cycle path close to the River Avon near to Riverside Drive when she was pushed to the floor from behind.

Fortunately, the woman was not injured but was left incredibly shaken up.

The woman believes the same person may have been loitering in the area at the same time the previous morning (12/11), however, unfortunately, we do not have a description of the suspect.

Det Con Laura Barwood said: “We understand this incident will cause concern amongst the local community but please be reassured we are carrying out extensive enquiries. We know this cycle track is well used by local people and we would urge anyone who was in the area on Sunday morning, or this morning, who believes they may have seen somebody acting suspicious, to call police immediately.

“We’d also urge residents in Monkton Park living near to the River Avon to check their doorbell cameras for any footage which could be significant to our investigation.”
