Residents evacuated from Care Home in Stanwell after Fire Rips through the building

Fire crews from across parts of Surrey are attending a care home fire Mulberry Avenue in Stanwell this evening. It is understood that a fire has broken out at the home just before midnight (Friday May 4th) Crews from Staines and Sudbury were first called to the blaze. Additional fire crews have been sent appliances from Egham,Camberley,Esher and Woking are now also attending the incident. There are no reports of any casualties and occupants of care home have been evacuated by staff and fire fighters. Further appliances have been sent to the incident as fire has spread further in the building. An Incident Command Unit from Painshill has also been sent to help manage the incident. Officers from Surrey Police are also assisting with the evacuation of the residents. The cause of the fire in unknown and an investigation has been started A spokesman for Surrey Fire and Rescue said : We currently have Six fire crews carrying out fire-fighting operations in the 3 storey residential building. Phased Evacuation of the residents is taking place with assistance being provided by SurreyPolice – None of the residents are know to be injured. Specialist fire investigators from the services Fire investigation team are attending. UPDATE:0634 Fire crews have extinguished the fire that was located in a cavity wall. Crews are now standing down and Fire investigation continuing today.
