Fire Breaks Out on Pilgrims Way, Andover
A fierce blaze tore through a garden before engulfing an end-of-terrace house in Andover on Saturday afternoon. Fire crews raced to the scene at 4.42pm after reports of the fire on Pilgrims Way.
Massive Fire Response
Crews from across the region – including Andover, Eastleigh, Overton, Basingstoke, Alresford, Romsey, and Service Headquarters – tackled the seven-pump fire. Firefighters deployed eight breathing apparatus sets, two jets, two hose reels, and used tactical ventilation to clear smoke.
The fire caused total damage to one home and devastated 30% of the neighbouring house’s roof, which also suffered water damage from firefighting efforts.
Residents and Dog Rehoused After Fire
Test Valley Borough Council stepped in to assist ten residents and a dog affected by the blaze, helping them find temporary homes. Fire crews finally brought the fire under control by 7.23pm.
Andover firefighters returned later that evening to check for lurking hotspots and ensure the fire was fully out.
