Robbery at Shop in Tranent Prompts Police Appeal for Information – UKNIP

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information regarding a robbery that occurred at a shop in Tranent. The incident took place at approximately 16.00 BST on Saturday, 22 July, at premises located on High Street, Tranent.

According to reports, a man entered the shop and proceeded to smash a display cabinet containing valuable mobile phones. Four phones were taken during the daring act, and the suspect swiftly made his escape, heading in the general direction of Church Street initially, potentially utilising back alleys towards Foresters Park.

The suspect is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a slim build. During the robbery, he was seen wearing a dark hoodie, a dark cap, and a mask that concealed his identity. Notably, he was carrying a bright red rucksack, which may aid in his identification.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident. However, law enforcement officials are taking this matter very seriously and have launched an active investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the robbery.

Detective Constable Garry Mauran, leading the inquiry, is appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating the perpetrator. Anyone who witnessed the robbery spotted the suspect, or has any relevant details is urged to come forward and contact the authorities immediately.

Additionally, officers are requesting assistance from individuals who were driving in the vicinity at the time of the incident and may have dash-cam footage that could potentially aid in the investigation.
