A major incident on the A34 near Newbury close to the Oxfordshire border resulted in serious injuries to a second man, as confirmed by Hampshire Constabulary. The crash, which occurred around noon on Saturday, involved military vehicles and led to both men, in their 20s, being hospitalized with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded to the scene shortly after the accident. The road was closed in both directions to facilitate an immediate response and investigation.
Hampshire Constabulary urged the public to stay informed via their social media pages for updates regarding the road reopening.

The Ministry of Defence has acknowledged that the vehicles involved were part of their fleet. An MoD spokesperson stated, “We are aware of a road traffic collision involving two military vehicles. The incident is currently under investigation, and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of military vehicle transport and the impact on public roadways, prompting a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
