On 30 June 2025, two Met Police officers were called to what seemed like a standard domestic dispute in Sidcup. A neighbour reported a man assaulting his mother. But what unfolded was anything but routine.
Violence Erupts as Suspect Returns
PC Adrienne Parmenter and her partner found the suspect missing on arrival. Thinking the scene safe, they helped the victim collect her belongings. Then the man stormed back—raging, swearing, and demanding the officers leave.
Parmenter later called him “the biggest man I’ve ever seen” — physically imposing and wildly unpredictable. Sensing danger, she requested backup. But before help could arrive, the suspect launched a brutal attack.
Officers Beaten and Left Unconscious
PC Parmenter was punched repeatedly in the face, suffering deep cuts and losing consciousness. While down, he kicked her in the face. Her partner was also savagely attacked—knocked out and stamped on, sustaining serious injuries.
Despite being battered, Parmenter fought back to protect her colleague but was struck again. Within moments, both officers were down and at the mercy of a violent attacker.
Heroic Backup Arrives
PC Benjamin Gregory and PC Jake Lodge arrived to a brutal, chaotic scene. They restrained the suspect fast, but the danger wasn’t over. With PC Lodge securing the attacker, PC Gregory administered critical first aid to his fallen colleagues. One officer wasn’t breathing properly—Gregory opened her airway, saving her life.
Gruesome Injuries and Long Road to Recovery
Both officers were rushed to the hospital. PC Parmenter suffered deep facial lacerations, heavy bruising, and a torn rotator cuff affecting her mobility. Her colleague’s injuries were worse; she spent eight days in a trauma ward and suffers from trauma-related amnesia.
Sgt Karen Cundy stepped in to provide vital support—attending hospitals, caring for families, and coordinating recovery.
Justice Served: Suspect Jailed for 12 Years
The attacker pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 years on 26 September 2025. The judge called it one of the most harrowing assaults on police officers he had ever seen.
After eight tough months, PC Parmenter is back on the beat. She’s determined not to let one violent criminal stop her from doing the job she loves.
Bravery Recognised at London Police Awards 2026
This savage attack highlights the dangers frontline officers face daily—unpredictable violence, split-second decisions, and unwavering courage. To honour their bravery, PC Parmenter, PC Gregory, PC Lodge, and Sgt Cundy will attend the London Police Bravery Awards 2026.
