Counter Terrorism Police have hauled in a 16-year-old boy from Didcot over a suspected terrorism offence.
Serious Charges Under Terrorism Act
The arrest, made on Thursday, 12 March 2026 by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE), centres on the boy being suspected of possessing materials useful for terrorist purposes. This falls under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The teenager remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Ongoing Searches and Increased Police Presence
Authorities are scouring residential properties and nearby areas in Didcot to uncover further evidence linked to the case.
Police Reassure the Public
Chief Superintendent Ben Clark, Oxfordshire LCU Commander, said: “Yesterday’s arrest was part of a pre-planned operation, and there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public.”
“I understand that visible police activity can cause concern. Officers will be carrying out additional patrols in the area, and if you would like to speak with someone, please feel free to approach our officers who will be happy to help.”
