Madeleine Lonsdale Admits Causing Death by Careless Driving
Madeleine Lonsdale, from Long Bennington, pleaded guilty to two charges of causing death by careless driving. The horrific single-vehicle collision happened on Toll Bar Road in Marston, in the early hours of 20 June 2025.
Fatal Crash Details
At around 1.40am, Lonsdale was driving her Kia Niro 4 EV towards Marston from the A1. She lost control on a sharp right-hand bend and crashed into a tree. Harrison Carter, 18, who was the front-seat passenger, and George Stephenson, 17, sitting in the back, both died instantly.
The group had stopped earlier at the Esso service station near the junction of the A1 and Toll Bar Road. After buying some items, they set off again before the tragedy struck just moments later.
Sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court
Today at Lincoln Crown Court, Lonsdale was handed a 14-month prison sentence. She was also banned from driving for three years, five months, and two weeks. To get back behind the wheel, she must pass an extended driving test.
