Two Pensioners Mowed Down in Hayling Island

Two pensioners have been seriously injured after being mowed down by a car on Church Road, Hayling Island this evening. Emergency Services rushed to the scene after the car struck the two churchgoers who where on their way to the Sunday evening service at St Mary’s. Police are currently investigating the circumstances and are questioning the driver of the vehicle that hit the victims. They are also questioning the driver of the vehicle that hit the victims. He has not been arrested. Officers at the scene said a number of witnesses and drivers stopped and gave their accounts to officers and are not appealing for further witness. It is believed that the two ladies have serious leg injuries and both have been taken to QA hospital in Portsmouth by South Central Ambulance Service..
