Glass attack sparks outrage

Gary Jordan, 50, of Windmill Avenue, Wokingham, was locked up for four years and six months yesterday at Reading Crown Court. The sentence follows a shocking glass assault that left a man in his twenties suffering serious facial injuries.

Violent pub brawl ends in court

The violent incident happened just before midnight on 30 September 2023 inside a pub on Peach Street. Jordan smashed a glass into the victim’s face, inflicting grievous bodily harm. The victim required urgent medical treatment for deep wounds.

Jordan was arrested a week later, on 7 October 2023, and charged last July. After a four-day trial, a unanimous jury found him guilty of wounding with intent.

Police praise the witnesses and the victim’s bravery

“This was a shocking and entirely unacceptable act of violence,” said Specialist Investigator Pippa Sharman. “I want to thank the public who came forward, especially those who gave evidence, and the victim for their courage. Thames Valley Police remains committed to protecting the public and bringing violent offenders to justice.”
