A Chippenham woman was found dead following a shocking patio explosion that left her with extensive burns, a coroner has revealed.
Tragic Scene in Orchard Crescent
Anna Myshenkova, 42, was discovered lifeless in the garden of her home on Orchard Crescent at around 3:20pm on 5 March. Emergency services were called after reports a person was on fire and presumed dead.
PC Jake Bell said ambulance staff requested urgent backup after hearing someone was “on fire and expected to be deceased.”
Patio Blast Heard by Neighbours
Neighbours reported a loud bang—the patio slab exploded due to a fire underneath, fire officials confirmed. Rapid heating caused moisture inside the concrete to turn into high-pressure steam, triggering the blast.
Coroner Rules Death ‘Unnatural’
At an inquest opening, Wiltshire area coroner Ian Singleton stated Anna’s death involved the use of a combustible liquid and ignition of her body or clothing, resulting in fatal burns.
He also confirmed there was no sign of third-party involvement.
Remembering Anna Myshenkova
Born in Russia, Anna was married and worked as a finance manager. She was identified through her dental records. Authorities have adjourned the inquest for further enquiries.
