Armed Police Storm McDonald’s in Bracknell Over Knife Reports
Armed officers swooped on a McDonald’s in Bracknell town centre on Thursday afternoon after reports of two men spotted with large knives sparked a major emergency response and lockdown at the busy fast-food joint.
Massive Police Operation Unfolds
Thames Valley Police response units, backed by armed officers, a dog unit, and the National Police Air Service helicopter, arrived at the McDonald’s inside the Lexicon Centre around 5.30pm. A lockdown was quickly enforced, and the restaurant evacuated as the area was cordoned off.
Two men were stopped, searched, and arrested at the scene. The police remain on site, and parts of the shopping complex are still sealed off as investigations continue.
Shoppers Shocked by Heavy Police Presence
Witnesses described the scene as “very unnerving” with multiple police cars and officers flooding the area.
“I was in town when this happened around 5.30pm. I’ve never seen so many police in town. Not sure what had happened,”
“Two men have been arrested, and it was terribly scary for the families in McDonald’s. But it seems they got who they were after.”
Earlier Violence and Unconfirmed Stabbing Reports
The drama may have roots in earlier disturbances nearby. Just before the incident, trouble was reported near Five Guys in the Lexicon Centre, involving youths behaving dangerously.
One witness revealed: “There were several complaints about three boys playing at the top of Primark, and one threw a yellow wet floor sign from above. It made a huge thud. Someone could have been killed or seriously injured. Luckily, no one was underneath.”
Unconfirmed reports of a stabbing circulate, but Thames Valley Police have yet to verify these claims.
Ongoing Investigation Underway
Police continue to investigate the incident, with part of the Lexicon Centre still under lockdown. Members of the public are urged to avoid the area while officers carry out their enquiries.
More updates will follow as police release further details.
