Over 100 UK Schools Face Raac-Related Closures and Disruptions

More than 100 schools across England have been hit with closure notices due to fears over dangerous concrete. The government has unveiled a lengthy list of schools built using reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (Raac), a lightweight material now deemed potentially unsafe.

Schools Forced Into Remote Learning and Delayed Terms

Out of the affected institutions, 24 will shift some lessons online, while four have moved completely to remote learning. Another 19 schools have pushed back the start of term as authorities scramble to assess Raac risks, the Department for Education (DfE) confirms.

Across the border in Wales, Ysgol David Hughes and Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi in Anglesey have been temporarily shut for further safety inspections amid similar Raac concerns.
