The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the first reports of an active shooter came in at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4.

Sheriff Jud Smith addressed the media in a press conference, stating that multiple people were injured but did not provide specific details about the number of victims or their conditions. “Obviously, what you see behind us is an evil thing,” Smith said, standing in front of the school.
