Ten inspiring London Ambulance Service (LAS) runners have collectively raised almost £30,000 for the London Ambulance Charity by taking on the 2025 London Marathon, which saw record-breaking participation under gruelling heat.

Among the runners was LAS Chief Executive Daniel Elkeles, who completed the marathon in 4 hours, 29 minutes, and 5 seconds, raising over £9,000 individually to support wellbeing and mental health initiatives for LAS staff, volunteers, and community first-aid programmes across the capital.

Running for a Cause That Saves Lives

The donations will go directly toward wellbeing support for frontline staff – including paramedics and 999 call handlers – and help provide life-saving first aid training in communities across London.

Daniel Elkeles said:
“The London Marathon is one of the biggest events LAS helps provide care for each year. This year felt extra special to run it myself and give back to the London Ambulance Charity. It’s a cause that means so much to me and to the amazing people working across LAS.”

Thousands took part in the 2025 event, which became the fourth hottest London Marathon on record, with temperatures reaching 22°C. Despite the heat, the event set a new world record for the highest number of finishers.

Incredible Effort from Team LAS

Jessica Burgess, Head of the London Ambulance Service Charity, praised the runners’ resilience and dedication:

“We are incredibly proud of all the runners – especially our LAS heroes – who took on this challenge in tough conditions. Thanks to their efforts, we can continue supporting the wellbeing of our paramedics and emergency workers, helping them deliver world-class care to Londoners every day.”

What’s Next for LAS Fundraising?

Following the marathon success, the London Ambulance Charity will host a Dragon Boat Racing fundraiser in July, offering supporters another exciting opportunity to raise money for this vital cause.
