Pensioner ploughs into wine shop

Shop staff were shaken and owner left heartbroken after a pensioner ploughs through a Wine shop in Fair Oak on Friday Afternoon. Grande Wines located on Sumerlands Road in Fair Oak village was the scene from a disaster after the elderly female driver in a Hyundi hatchback car caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to the shop front and stock on display. The owner said; “This is devastating, i have worked so hard to build up a customer base here over the past two years and now we are left having to close for a while whilst the repairs and insurance work is undertaken, i dont know what to do next” Fair Oak Village is a quiet place where locals rely on the shops in the area, there is a fair amount of elderly who live close by and use the shop often. Buisness has been tough for the retailer as a co-op has opened nearby meaning often customers miss the deals offered usually at a far cheaper price. The eldery driver was shaken up but no injuries were luckily sustained to both the driver or staff, and no public were in the shop at the time. Police breathalised the driver who was not under the influence. Hopefully locals will be able to show support to the shop owner in rebuilding the trade that will be lost after this accident.
