Former Grange Hill star George Armstrong, has died after a battle with Leukaemia. He was 60 years old.
Born on 7 September 1962, George began his acting career at a young age and quickly made a name for himself in the industry. He captured the hearts of audiences with his talent and memorable performances.
George’s first notable role was as Hubert Lane in the television series Just William in 1977, where he shared the screen with Bonnie Langford as Violet Elizabeth Bott. However, it was his portrayal of Alan Humphries in the BBC series Grange Hill that truly endeared him to fans. From 1978 to 1982, and again in 1983 in the spin-off series Tucker’s Luck, George brought charm and authenticity to his character, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
After his time on Grange Hill, George continued to pursue acting opportunities, culminating in his role as PC Driscoll in The Bill in 1989. His dedication to his craft and his ability to breathe life into his characters garnered him respect within the industry.
Later in life, George made a transition from acting to becoming a Technical Theatre Manager at a public school. In this role, he shared his expertise and passion for the arts, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.
