Emergency Rescue After Car Overturns in Portsmouth

Emergency services raced to the scene after a car flipped over in Portsmouth tonight, trapping two people inside.

Crash Closes New Road and Copnor Bridge

The accident happened just before 10pm on Sunday on New Road in Copnor. Police shut the road near Pam’s Flower Shop and also closed Copnor Bridge to clear the way for rescuers.

Firefighters Use Cutting Gear to Free Victims

Fire crews from Southsea, paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service, and police arrived swiftly. Firefighters had to use specialist cutting tools to release the two trapped passengers from the silver Nissan Micra that had overturned.

Victims Taken to Hospital, Roads Reopen

Both victims were freed and treated at the scene before being rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth by ambulance. Roads have now reopened following the emergency response.
