London Fire Brigade has launched an investigation following a garage fire in Bromley that was caused by a discarded mattress. Fire crews responded to the incident on Waters Road at 1:50 am last night, Tuesday, July 4.
The blaze resulted in significant damage to half of a single-story garage and a garden fence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received a total of 11 calls reporting the fire.
Firefighters swiftly took control of the situation, and by around 2:20 am, the fire was brought under control. Crews from Bromley Fire Station were dispatched to the scene and effectively managed the situation.
London Fire Brigade Bromley tweeted about the incident, stating that the fire originated from a discarded mattress that had been set alight. They also urged residents to report any instances of discarded waste on the streets to Bromley Council. Collaboration with partners will be essential in investigating the cause of the fire.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade provided additional details, stating that the garage fire resulted in damage to half of the structure and the destruction of a garden fence. However, no injuries were reported. The Brigade’s prompt response was made possible by the 11 calls received from concerned members of the public. The fire was fully brought under control within 30 minutes.
