Nottingham Police Nab Drug Dealer in Radford Sting

A slick undercover operation by Nottinghamshire Police has landed a local drug dealer behind bars. Using plain-clothes tactics, officers from the Radford Road Operation Reacher team caught Ronald King red-handed in the act.

Caught in the Act on Gregory Boulevard

King, 41, was spotted cycling on Gregory Boulevard in Radford before making a drug deal and cycling away, completely unaware he was under surveillance. The team tailed him to a nearby address where, after a brief scuffle, he was detained.

When searched, officers found King carrying a large amount of crack cocaine and heroin.

Locked Up for Nearly Four Years

King, of Belper Road, Hyson Green, was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He pleaded guilty to two counts and was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court on August 2, 2023.

Police Urge Public to Report Suspicious Activity

“We often use plain-clothes tactics to combat all kinds of crime, drug dealing being one of them,” said PC James Marr of the Radford Road Operation Reacher team.

“This result shows the impact that such tactics can achieve as we work toward ridding the Radford area of drug dealers and other criminals.

“We recognise the concern people feel about drug-related crime in our communities. I hope our work in this case reminds everyone that we will take robust action to tackle these issues.”

“We rely heavily on public reports of suspicious activity to carry out operations like this one. If you see someone or a vehicle acting suspiciously on your street, please call 101 so we can build a clear picture of local crime.

“Tell us about any incidents or concerns in confidence so we can investigate and act appropriately.

“Information can be reported to Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, always call 999.”
