Cop PC Liam Duncanson Faces Sexual Assault Charges
PC Liam Duncanson, 37, was charged with two counts of sexual assault and ordered to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court. The shocking allegations stem from a social event back in October 2021, where Duncanson, off duty at the time, allegedly behaved inappropriately.
Suspended and Under Investigation
Duncanson worked with the neighbourhood policing team in Doncaster. Since the report to South Yorkshire Police’s Counter Corruption Unit, he has been suspended from duty. An internal misconduct probe runs alongside the ongoing criminal case.
Bailed to Crown Court in New Year
At a hearing on 7 December, Duncanson was granted bail. He is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 4 January 2023 to face the charges.
Police Pledge Transparency and Tough Action
“We continue to be totally committed to being as open and transparent as possible with our communities in relation to the professional standards of our officers,” said Superintendent Delphine Waring, head of South Yorkshire Police’s Professional Standards Department. “The people of South Yorkshire rightly expect our officers and staff to uphold the highest standards, and I can assure you that when we become aware of anyone thought to be failing to meet these standards we will take appropriate action.”
