Dangerous Predator Sentenced to 15 Years for Child Sexual Assaults and Rape
A vile sexual predator, Templeton, has been handed a brutal 15-year sentence after sexually assaulting three children and raping an adult man in Burnley.
Decade-Long Abuse Uncovered
Now 40, Templeton’s horrific crimes stretch back more than 20 years. His first known victim was just eight years old around the year 2000. Another child, age 11, woke to find Templeton sexually assaulting her, while a third was isolated and abused by him. He also manipulated this victim with disturbing comments to satisfy his sick desires.
Templeton was a child himself when these awful offences occurred.
Rape of Vulnerable Adult Adds to Horror
Roughly 10 years ago, Templeton turned on a vulnerable man in his 30s, sexually assaulting and then raping him. Despite denying these charges, he was found guilty at trial.
Burnley Crown Court Delivers Justice
Templeton, homeless at sentencing, pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offences against children, including inciting a boy under 14 to commit gross indecency and indecent assault on both boys and girls under 14. His adult victim’s case went to trial, where Templeton was convicted of rape and sexual assault.
The judge branded him a dangerous offender, handing down 10 years’ immediate custody plus an extended five-year licence. Templeton must sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Police Praise Sentence, Urge Victims to Speak Out
DS Martyn Hargreaves of East CID said: “A dangerous man has been sentenced for sexual offences against children and the rape and sexual assaults of an adult male. Templeton has been recognised as a dangerous offender due to the risk he poses to members of the public and I welcome the custodial sentence imposed by the judge.
“Templeton subjected children to horrific sexual abuse on multiple occasions when he was a child himself. As he got to adulthood, he continued his sexual offending, including against an adult male. The effects on all victims have been profound, and I hope this sentence helps them recover from their ordeal.
“Despite pleading not guilty to offences against the adult male, Templeton showed no remorse. I hope this sentence reassures the public that Lancashire Constabulary will relentlessly pursue those accused of sexual offences. I urge any victims to come forward and get the support they need.”
