A registered sex offender has been jailed for two years after breaching a court order designed to restrict his contact with children and his use of electronic devices.

Daemon Hunt, 37, of Victoria Street, Rochester, was convicted in 2021 of multiple child sex offences and was made subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

The order included a requirement for monitoring software to be installed on his mobile phone.

On August 12, 2026, around two weeks after Hunt was released from prison, investigators carried out a planned visit to his home.

Officers said Hunt appeared flustered when he answered the door and did not immediately hand over his mobile phone for inspection.

When officers examined the device, they found that messages had been deleted.

Police said Hunt subsequently admitted deleting parts of a WhatsApp conversation, which investigators said amounted to deleting his internet browsing history.

He was arrested on suspicion of breaching his SHPO and charged the same day.

Hunt was remanded in custody and later pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court.

He was sentenced on Wednesday, October 14, to two years in prison and will remain subject to a further 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Investigating officer PC Leona Valsler said: “As a force, we do everything within our power to ensure offenders like Hunt are held accountable for their actions.

“I am pleased the court has imposed a custodial sentence that reflects the seriousness of his behaviour.”
