David Hollick, a 29-year-old man from Primley Avenue, Walsall, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the manslaughter of his six-month-old son, Kairo Hollick. The heartbreaking case, which shook the community, culminated in a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
The tragic events unfolded on February 12, 2020, at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where Kairo Hollick lost his life after suffering severe injuries. The life support system was switched off after medical experts determined that his injuries were not survivable. The court heard that Kairo was initially taken to Walsall Manor Hospital on Sunday, February 9, 2020, by his father, who reported finding the infant floppy and unresponsive. David Hollick claimed he had shaken Kairo in an attempt to revive him, but tragically, his efforts were in vain.
