Three teenagers convicted of the killing of 16-year-old Mikey Roynon during a house party in Bath last summer have been sentenced to jail.
In a solemn session at Bristol Crown Court today, Friday, May 3, the boys faced their fate for the tragic death of Mikey and possession of a bladed weapon.
The teenager found guilty of murdering Mikey can now be publicly identified as 16-year-old Shane Cunningham.
The other two boys, convicted of manslaughter, can also be named as Cartel Bushnell and Leo Knight, both aged 16.
Shane Cunningham received a life sentence, with the judge decreeing that he must serve a minimum of 16 years in prison.
Cartel Bushnell was sentenced to nine years behind bars, with the judge specifying that he must serve at least two-thirds of this term before being considered for parole.
The sentencing follows a harrowing ordeal that shook the Bath community and brought immense grief to Mikey’s family and friends. The incident underscores the devastating consequences of youth violence and the importance of addressing underlying issues to prevent such tragedies in the future.
