Devon Duo Jailed for Brutal Pub Brawl
Two men from Devon have been locked up for a savage attack on a stranger outside a Newton Abbot pub in July 2021. Kai Webb, 27, from Teignmouth, and Lewis Botfield, 26, of Kingsteignton, both admitted to causing grievous bodily harm at Exeter Crown Court.
Harsh Sentences for Vicious Attackers
Judge Stephen Climie handed Webb a hefty 43-month prison term. Botfield was sentenced to 15 months behind bars. Webb’s sentence was bumped up after he was found guilty of carrying a bladed weapon and assaulting someone else in an unrelated incident.
Unprovoked Attack Leaves Victim Seriously Injured
The court heard how Webb and Botfield launched a vicious, unprovoked attack on a stranger outside the Newton Abbot pub. The victim suffered serious injuries, prompting the grievous bodily harm charges.
Judge Demands Tough Justice to Deter Violence
“The severity of this attack demanded a custodial sentence to reflect the harm caused and to deter others from similar acts of violence,” said Judge Climie.
Webb’s extra time in jail highlights his dangerous behaviour, with multiple violent offences now on his record. Both men will serve their sentences behind bars, showing the courts’ tough stance on violent crime.
