Metropolitan Police officers are investigating whether a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Kingsbury Road is connected to a police chase that occurred shortly after the collision. The tragic incident left a woman in her 60s dead after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in the early hours of Thursday, November 7.
At approximately 12:28 a.m., officers in Colindale attempted to stop a vehicle, which instead sped away, leading to a pursuit. The vehicle eventually evaded officers on Lanacre Avenue, NW9, where an occupant reportedly exited the car and fled on foot. Police are continuing efforts to locate this individual and determine any connection between the vehicle and the fatal collision in Kingsbury.
Emergency services were dispatched to Kingsbury Road shortly after the hit-and-run, where paramedics attempted to save the injured woman. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. Her next of kin have been informed.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, “Detectives are investigating a fatal collision at Kingsbury Road, NW9. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a female pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The driver did not stop, and despite the efforts of medics, the woman sadly died at the scene.”
The police have set up a crime scene in Kingsbury Road, and cordons remain in place as investigators work to piece together the events. They are appealing to the public for assistance, particularly from anyone who may have dashcam footage or information about the driver’s identity.
