Two teenagers are in hot water after recklessly hurling furniture from the top level of Westfield Stratford on Saturday, 1 March 2025. The dangerous stunt caused mass panic among shoppers and risked lives.
Teens Arrested and Charged
After a swift Metropolitan Police probe, two boys aged 14 and 16 from Hackney were arrested on Tuesday, 4 March. Due to their age, their identities are protected by law. They now face serious charges of criminal damage with intent to endanger life.
Court Date Set for May
The pair are due to appear at Stratford Youth Court on Tuesday, 6 May 2025. The charges highlight the life-threatening nature of their actions.
Police and Public React
“The safety of the public is our top priority, and we take incidents like this extremely seriously. Reckless behaviour that puts lives at risk will not be tolerated, and we are committed to ensuring those responsible are brought to justice,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
One shaken shopper who witnessed the mayhem said, “It was terrifying to see furniture just flying from the upper levels. We were just lucky no one got hurt.”
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Authorities are fasting calling for any witnesses or anyone with video footage of the incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD 3105/01MAR25.
Meanwhile, Westfield management has vowed to ramp up safety and security measures to prevent another terrifying incident.
