Three Arrested After Woman Murdered in Romford
Police have swooped on three men following the brutal murder of a woman in Romford.
A 35-year-old man is held on suspicion of murder. Two others, aged 21 and 22, are arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Deadly Attack in Early Hours
The Metropolitan Police revealed officers were called to Chadwell Heath Lane at around 5:30am on Saturday, 16 August after reports of a woman being assaulted.
Paramedics battled to save the victim, believed to be in her twenties, but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway, Family Supported
Formal identification hasn’t happened yet, but her family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist liaison officers. A post-mortem is set to take place.
Detectives say early inquiries suggest the attack was isolated and involved people who knew each other.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends in light of this truly tragic event,” said Detective Superintendent Brian Hobbs.
“Though arrests have been made, officers will maintain a high presence in the area as investigations continue. Anyone with info from Romford early on 16 August is urged to come forward.”
