Two Men Jailed Over Golders Green Killing Brawl
Two men linked to a deadly stabbing in Golders Green have been sentenced for affray. Walter Veiga-Rosa, 22, was handed 20 months behind bars. His mate William Ferreira, 21, got a suspended sentence and community service.
Brutal Incident in North London
On the night of Friday, 17 February 2017, friends Joseph Olopo, Veiga-Rosa, and Ferreira were caught up in a vicious brawl in Golders Green. Joseph, just 21, was fatally stabbed during the fight.
Verdict and Sentences
- Walter Veiga-Rosa pleaded guilty to affray and possession of an offensive weapon and was jailed for 20 months at the Old Bailey on 2 January.
- William Ferreira admitted affray and received a 13-month sentence, suspended for 12 months, plus 150 hours of unpaid community work.
Murder Trial Outcome
In a separate trial in August 2017, Jason De Sousa, 21, was cleared of murder but convicted of Joseph’s manslaughter. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison that November.
“Justice has been served for Joseph Olopo,” said a police spokesman. “This tragic event shook the local community, and those responsible have now been held to account.”
