Heroic Helicopter Rescue Saves Woman from Portland Sea
At 4.50pm, a dramatic emergency unfolded at Portland Bill when a woman was spotted struggling in the sea.

- HM Coastguard, Wyke and Portland Coastguard Rescue Teams rushed to the scene.
- RNLI lifeboats from Weymouth and Dorset Police joined the search.
- A Coastguard rescue helicopter, police helicopter, and Helimed air ambulance launched into action.
Perilous Cliffside Recovery
The woman was trapped in a hard-to-reach cave below the cliffs. Courageous Coastguard helicopter crew swung into action, plucking her to safety.

Once rescued, she was swiftly transferred to hospital by the South West Ambulance Service. The teamwork and quick thinking saved a life on Portland’s treacherous coast.
