Associate Shoots Mate in Deadly Car Incident

Mohamed Muhyidin, 28, was fatally shot while sitting in a car outside a block of flats in Harlington, early on 31 October 2021. His body was later dumped by the roadside in Sipson Lane, discovered by a taxi driver.

Gunman’s Accidental Fatal Shot Sparks Cover-Up

Detective Inspector Lucy Carberry of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command revealed that Mohamed was killed by his associate, Chiragh Chiragh, who was carrying a sub-machine gun. “It is accepted that Chiragh accidentally discharged the firearm while both men sat in the car,” she said. Plans for the evening were cut short, triggering a desperate cover-up.

After the shooting, Mohamed’s body was dumped, and the car was set ablaze in a bid to erase evidence.

Drugs, Firearms & Flare-Up at Harlington Flat

On the night before the shooting, Chiragh, Mohamed, Mohammed Shakeel, and a 17-year-old were at a flat on High Street used as a base for drug dealing. A dispute with other men led to Shakeel brandishing an imitation pistol, ramping up tensions. Chiragh was seen carrying a sub-machine gun throughout the night, and Shakeel with the fake firearm.

At 4.45am, Chiragh joined Mohamed in a car outside the flat, gun in hand, and fired the fatal shot. He then dropped the silencer and fired multiple times as chaos unfolded.

Aftermath: Dumped Body, Arson & Arrests

Chiragh drove Mohamed’s body to Sipson Lane and dumped it before abandoning the car near West Drayton. The 17-year-old later set fire to the vehicle after buying fuel at a petrol station.

Police recovered bullet cartridges and the silencer at the scene and flat. Chiragh and Shakeel were arrested on 5 November, with the teenager taken in on 9 November.

Digital forensics and CCTV tied all three to the crime. They each face charges linked to the shooting and cover-up.

Verdicts Delivered, Sentencing Set for February

DI Carberry said: “While Chiragh may not have meant to kill Mohamed, they were all clearly prepared to use violence. They conspired to hide the truth after the shooting. All have now faced justice. I thank Mohamed’s family for their strength during this difficult trial, and hope today’s verdicts bring them closure.”

  • Chiragh Chiragh, 39, convicted of manslaughter and possession of a firearm with intent. He had pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon and perverting the course of justice.
  • Mohammed Shakeel, 29, found guilty of perverting the course of justice; previously pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent.
  • 17-year-old male pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

All three are due to be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on 10 February.
